Kitchen Design: The Dark Knight

At times when a bright kitchen seems too glaring for your liking, a dark one sweeps in to save the day.

By Audrey Wong on 8th April 2010.

To design a dark kitchen that stands out is certainly no easy feat. But what Rational did with Onda is all that and more - this fabulously coloured kitchen takes your breath away and leaves a lasting impression. Most of all, it makes other dark kitchens pale in comparison.

The Onda kitchen is a combination of blackened glass and dark plum micro-lacquer, the latter which creates a subtle texture for a remarkable matte finish. Complemented with aluminium handle details, Onda is the picture of a wonderfully monochromatic kitchen with a modern twist.

Striking hues aside, Onda is all about forms and shapes. It represents independent living, one that is filled with a desire to combine the soft and organic with all the characteristics of modern design. Curvaceous cabinets and soft lines define the linear design of Onda, where the distinctive contours becomes an ideal surface for sharp highlights that emphasize each drawer and layer.
